Howto boot into DexOS

There are three main ways to boot into DexOS, you can boot from a 1.44 Floppy Disk, from a cd or from Dos. First we will take a look at, how to boot from a floppy disk.

Floppy boot disk You need to obtain a blank/formatted 3.5" 1.44MB floppy disk, place this disk in the A: drive and click on the 'DexOS.exe', this will create a bootable DexOS floppy. All you need to do now, is reboot with the floppy in the A: drive, NOTE: if it boots to your normal OS, you need to make shore that the BIOS is set to boot from floppy drive first.

Cd boot disk To make a bootable cd use your cd/dvd burn software to burn the iso to the cd, Usually your cd burn program will open up as soon as you click on the iso.
Once the cd is burned, put it in the first cd/dvd drive and reboot your pc, also making shore the BIOS is set to boot cd/dvd before Hdd.

Dos boot To boot from Dos, it could not be simpler, just download the kernel32.zip, put the kernel32.exe in your C dir and restart your pc in Dos and type kernel32, You should then be at the DexOS prompt, you can also put the kernel32.exe on a Dos floppy (eg: 98 startup disk or FreeDos disk), reboot and type kernel32 from the Dos prompt.
NOTE: you need to be in real Dos, not a win98 Dosbox.

USB booting You can also boot DexOS from a usb key-fob, if your BIOS will boot from a usb drive. To do this you need to put Dos on the usb fob, there are many web site with info on how to do this, Try here once you have a Dos bootable usb fob, all you need to do is add the kernel32.exe program to the usb drive, once booted, at the Dos prompt, type 'kernel32' and press enter.

Hdd booting There also is a program, that comes with DexOS's bootloader 'bootprog' that
lets you boot from a fat16 formatted hdd.
